Les Extatiques are coming back for a sixth edition, inspired by the four elements. Under the artistic direction of Fabrice Bousteau, eight artists and thirteen artworks are featured in this exhibition, splited between Paris-La Défense and la Seine Musicale.
Each work enquired the public about these urban landscapes, providing another perspective and another narrative. Some of these works were created in situ, and others were specifically chosen to resonate with their new environment.

Ugo Rondinone, Doha Mountains, Doha
3 March 2023Ugo Rondinone’s Doha Mountains are at the intersection of geological formations and abstract compositions; they are made of vertically stacked rocks painted in various Day-Glo colors. Inspired by natural Hoodoos (spires or pyramids of rocks) and the art of meditative balancing on rocks – which has existed in all cultures for thousands of years – their simplified modularity and colors also evoke the formal essence of minimalist art.
A duality is present at the center of the artist’s practice: that of the natural and the artificial, the eternal and the temporal. In each iteration, the sculptures seem to balance between monumentality and collapse – seeming to defy gravity in their shaky formations, yet depending on it, leaning like unstable pillars on the landscape.

1 December 2022Nuit Blanche 2022
1 December 2022This year’s anniversary edition of Nuit Blanche has a special resonance. Organized since 2002, the event allows Parisians, and now Greater Parisians, to wander through the city and admire installations, performances and works by contemporary artists in public spaces, in the open air or in cultural institutions in Paris and Greater Paris.
Orchestrated by artistic director Kitty Hartl, Nuit Blanche pays homage to previous editions, with works that will be exhibited again, while others will be shown to the public for the first time. Nearly 200 artistic projects will be offered to culture lovers, night owls or simply curious Metropolitans. With a promising theme, the “Garden of Delights”, inspired by the work of the Dutch painter Jerome Bosch.

1 December 2022Les Extatiques 2022 – Paris La Défense & La Seine Musicale
1 December 2022A must-attend event for art lovers, Les Extatiques are back this year with a new artistic direction, but with the same ambition of offering a time of wonder and questioning around social issues in an exceptional outdoor setting. With the Seine as a natural link, the esplanade of La Défense and the gardens of La Seine Musicale welcome this year works around the celebration of life that respond to each other to form, over the course of the stroll, a real biotope. The exhibition poster, created by Jean Julien, one of the most sought-after illustrators in the international press, is the perfect representation of this.
David Moinard, curator and artistic director of the exhibition, takes visitors on a whole new journey through lively and generous works, joyfully celebrating life and inviting visitors to marvel at their imagination. An invitation to contemplation that will appeal to their sensitivity to perceive the living in what surrounds them through the different approaches of the 12 artists who have set out to write a desirable future.
